Located about 100 km south of the capital, the Kadavu Islands emerge from the ocean with their green hills. Nestled between crystalline and colorful waters and vibrant reefs, they are certainly among the most beautiful destinations in the Pacific.
The reefs that surround Kadavu are home to a wide variety of colorful soft and hard corals and tropical fish, as well as a multitude of manta rays, turtles, dolphins and sharks. The sea area between the islands of Beqa, Vatulele and Kadavu is called Astrolabe Lagoon and offers some of the best dive sites in all of Fiji, especially for those who want to have close encounters with sharks. Among the most evocative sites we remember Caesar's Rock. The area has two coral towers completely covered with colorful alcyonaries; pink, red and orange corals will fill your view. A variety of giant sea fans can also be seen providing shelter for hawkfish and trumpet fish, ideal for photography lovers. Tuna, turtles and manta rays are also often encountered. Another popular dive site among divers is Carpet Cove, one of the best in the Beqa Lagoon. Here is the wreck of a Japanese fishing boat completely covered with colorful corals, sponges and crinoids. Next to the wreck there is a drop off completely covered with soft corals, among which a great variety of leaf fish of all colors, anemones, home of the inevitable clownfish, and batfish swim.

I reef che fanno da cornice a Kadavu ospitano una grande varietà di coloratissimi coralli molli e duri e pesci tropicali, oltre a una moltitudine di mante, tartarughe, delfini e squali. L’area di mare compresa tra le isole di Beqa, Vatulele e Kadavu è chiamata Astrolabe Lagoon e offre alcuni tra i migliori siti per immersioni di tutte le Fiji, soprattutto per chi desidera fare incontri ravvicinati con gli squali. Tra i siti più suggestivi ricordiamo Caesar’s Rock. L’area presenta due torri di corallo completamente rivestite di alcionari variopinti; coralli rosa, rossi e arancioni riempiranno la vostra visuale. Si può ammirare anche una varietà di gorgonie giganti che forniscono riparo a pesci falco e trombetta, ideali per gli amanti di fotografia. Si incontrano spesso anche tonni, tartarughe e mante. Un altro sito di immersione rinomato tra i divers è Carpet Cove, tra i migliori nella laguna di Beqa. Qui si trova il relitto di un peschereccio giapponese completamente ricoperto da coloratissimi coralli, spugne e crinoidi. Accanto al relitto un drop off completamente ricoperto di coralli molli, tra i quali nuota una grande varietà di pesci foglia di tutti i colori, anemoni, casa degli immancabili pesce pagliaccio, e pesci pipistrello.
